15 Life-Changing Questions to Ask Yourself Today

15 Life-Changing Questions to Ask Yourself Today Like Socrates said many years ago, the unexamined life is not worth living. In order to unlock your full potential and achieve your greatest dreams, you need to take a step back and examine the kind of life you are living. In this article, we take a look at 15 life-changing questions that will help you to objectively put your life under a microscope. The answers to these questions will change your life, help you determine whether your life is headed in the right direction, give new meaning to your life, help you tap your hidden potential and open you up to new experiences. Below are the 15 questions you need to ask yourself today. 1. WHERE DO I WANT TO BE IN THE NEXT ONE, FIVE OR TEN YEARS?While it is impossible to predict where your life will be a year, or five years down the line, it is important to have a plan of where you want to be in that time. Asking yourself this question allows you to set goals about what you want to achieve in your life. Without goals, you will be like a sh ip that is adrift in the ocean without a destination. Any direction seems like the right destination. The problem is, when you sail without a destination, being tossed by the waves, you are more likely to get wrecked on a rocky island that find yourself in a great port.Having clear goals allows you to concentrate your efforts on activities that move you forward in life. Your goals give you the motivation you need to create the best life for yourself. Having goals also means that you have a lighthouse to guide your life. Goals help you align your decisions with your desired life and notice when you are going adrift. Actually, goal setting is so important that, according to this Harvard Business study, those who set goals are twice more likely to succeed than those without goals, and those with written goals and a plan are 10 times more likely to succeed than those without goals.Asking yourself this question will prompt you to decide what you want to achieve in your life. Your answer to this question should encompass all areas of life. Don’t just focus on your career or material achievements. You should have goals for your career, your financial wellbeing, education, family, health, pleasure, and so on.  2. WHERE WILL MY LIFE BE IN ONE, FIVE OR TEN YEARS IF I CONTINUE DOING WHAT I AM DOING TODAY?Fortunately, many of us already have visions of where we want to be in future, whether that is the next one year, the next 5 years or the next 10 years. Even if you did not have one, hopefully the first question has got you thinking about where you want your life to be in future. Unfortunately, many of us spend time doing things that do not help us move closer to our goals. Remember, your future life is dependent on the things you do today. You cannot live the life of your dreams in future if you spend your life today doing average things. If your dream is to be fit within the next one year, you will not get there if you keep eating junk foods and avoiding the gym. Ask ing yourself this question helps you identify the things in your life today that are wasting your time. It helps you identify things that you need to do in order to achieve your goals. Most importantly, it helps you stop procrastinating the important things that you know you need to do. If your dream is to be financially stable, asking yourself this question will spur you to start taking action towards securing your financial future, today. If your aim is to be fit, you need to start exercising and eating healthy, today. If there are people who are holding you back from going for your dreams, you need to cut them off, today. Otherwise, if you keep doing the kind of things you have been doing before, you will continue living the same kind of life you have been living before. Like Einstein once said, insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. 3. WHAT IS MY WHY?This question is important because it helps you identify why you are going after your dre ams. If one of your goals is to lose some weight, why exactly do you want to lose weight? If your dream is to become CEO at your organization, why do you want it? What will becoming CEO do for you? Do you want it because of the associated status, or because the CEO salary will allow you to give your family a better life? Your “why” is a deep-seated reason behind your goals.Without knowing the “why” behind your goals, dreams and aspirations, you minimize your chances of achieving your goals. The truth is, achieving your goals is not going to be easy. You will face challenges that will make you feel like quitting. Without a clear picture of why you are going for that goal, it becomes easy to quit when the tough gets going. However, a clear “why” gives you purpose and motivates you to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. Knowing your why also helps you make the tough decisions concerning your goals. A strong enough why will give you the fortitude to figure out the †œwhat” and the “how” of achieving your dreams. 4. WHAT AM I GRATEFUL FOR?In this life, we are constantly trying to make more money, achieve more and improve ourselves that we often take for granted what we have going for us at the moment. However, it is important to take a step back and be grateful for what we have. Being grateful does not mean that we should get complacent and stop trying to improve our lives. Instead, it means that we should count our blessings and appreciate the kind of lives we have today. You might feel that your car is old and you need a new one. However, you should appreciate the fact that you have a car, since there is someone struggling to raise money for a bicycle.Gratitude is one of the keys to a truly happy life. Actually, research shows people who practice gratitude tend to have better confidence, better sleep and better moods. Being grateful will also lower your chances of experiencing stress and anxiety. Asking yourself this question will give y ou a dose of optimism and make you realize that your life is not as bad as you think it is. Think you don’t have anything to be grateful for? How about your good health, a roof over your head, food to eat, a happy family? These are all things you should be grateful for. Before you start worrying about a new car, a bigger house or a better job, take a moment to be grateful for the car, the house or the job you have now. 5. WHAT ARE MY VALUES, AND AM I BEING TRUE TO THEM?In this life, it is important to have values that guide you. Unfortunately, many of us never take a moment to identify what our values are. Values are your personal set of beliefs and ethical principles that guide your behavior and decisions. Your values are the essence of who you are. They help you determine what is important to you and help you determine between right and wrong. Asking yourself this question helps you to analyze what is important to you and what you stand for. Why are values important? Values prov ide you with a framework for making the right decisions even in cases where the decisions might result in conflict. They help you know who you are and are the basis on which you develop your opinions on important things. Values help you clear excess clutter from your life. They help you identify things that are important to you and allow you to let go of things that are not important. Finally, having values increases your confidence and provides you with a stable foundation for your life. Once you know what you stand for in life, you are less likely to be swayed by the opinions of others.6. DO I WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK?Human beings are social creatures, and the need to be accepted by others is a normal part of being human. This explains why each of us feels the need to act according to societal expectations. However, sometimes this need to get accepted by others can become so great to the extent that it starts affecting our lives. Worrying too much about what others w ill think about you, your behavior, you decisions and so on and trying to do what everyone expects of you can hinder your ability to think for yourself and make your own decisions. Instead of making your decisions based on what you want for yourself, your decisions will be based on what you think others consider to be right. Unfortunately, you can never truly predict what others will think of you, and therefore trying to please others is an exercise in futility. It is better to do make your own decisions without concerning yourself with what others will think of you. Asking yourself this question will help you determine if you are doing things because you think they are the right thing to do or because you are afraid of being judged.  7. WHAT DO I WANT PEOPLE TO SAY ABOUT ME AT MY FUNERAL?Thinking about your own death is not a very pleasant exercise. However, death also has a way of helping us identify the most important things in our lives. The truth is that everyone will die, incl uding you. What would you want people to say about you during your funeral? Would you rather they talk about the expensive car you drove and your big mansion, or about how you made them feel? Would you want your children to talk about how great a dad you were, or how you they never saw you because you were always in the office? Asking yourself this question will make you realize that there is more to life than chasing material things. Building good relationships with people and having a great character is what will matter in the end. People are going to remember you for how you made them feel, for living a life of love and kindness. No one will miss you once you are gone because you were the richest person in the family, or because you had a private jet. Asking yourself this question reminds you that you should not focus on pursuing success and riches at the expense of relationships and good character. 8. WHAT WOULD I DO IF I WASN’T AFRAID OF ANYTHING?This is a question that only few people contemplate, yet it can have a very profound impact on your life. Many of us go through life timidly, with fear holding us back from going for what we truly want. You keep your feelings to yourself because you are afraid you will be rejected by your crush. You stay at a dead end job because you are afraid you will fail if you quit to start your business. What if you were not afraid? How much would you achieve? What exactly would you do if failure was not in the picture?Pondering on this question helps you to identify the things that truly matter to you. The answers to this question are the things you should step up and do. In most cases, the fears holding you back are usually irrational, and you can easily overcome them.   If your fear is keeping you from moving from your home town, go ahead and do it. If your fear is keeping you from trying your hand at being a singer, go ahead and give it a try. In the end, when your life is nearing its end, you won’t care about the t hings that you tried and failed at. Instead, you will regret the opportunities you missed due to fear. Do not let your fears hold you back. Instead, face your fears and your life will become limitless. 9. WHAT WOULD I DO IF TODAY WAS MY LAST DAY?Imagine that today was your last day on earth. Would you spend it mindlessly scrolling through Facebook or watching useless programs on TV? Not likely. Instead, you’d probably meet up with that friend you have been meaning to meet up with, spend time with your family, or go for that one adventure you have been postponing your entire life. If there is a person you always had feelings for, you would probably go ahead and tell them. You wouldn’t care about rejection because, well, you only have a few hours to live, and you’ll go knowing that you made your feelings known. The truth is, no one knows when they’ll die. This means that today could very well be your last day on earth. Why waste it doing useless things? Considering that this co uld be your last day will make you stop procrastinating on things that matter to you. You’ve always wanted to visit the Seychelles? Why not do it now, who knows whether you’ll be alive next year. There’s more to life than working to pay bills and taxes. If today was your last day on earth, I doubt that you would wake up and head over to the office. Instead, you would do something that you have always wanted to do. I’m not saying that you should skip work today, but you should find time to do the things that you have always wanted to. You might put off doing something because you think you don’t have time today, only to find yourself at 70 years without having ever done it. Don’t put living your life to some day in the future when the future is not assured. Instead, live your wildest life today, because today is the only moment that you are assured of. 10. WHY NOT? From when we were kids, we have been brainwashed by society that we need to follow the rules and live a cert ain way. That we need to fit in, keep our heads down and play it safe. However, following this path often leads to an average life. Sometimes, you need to go beyond the confines of tradition and stop playing it safe. Don’t just accept everything as it is. If someone tells you that something cannot be done, ask them why not. If someone says that you cannot achieve your dreams, ask yourself why not? Don’t accept the limitations people put on you. Instead, you should challenge the status quo and go for what others think is impossible. If you look at some of the greatest people to have lived, most of them have looked at things that that seemed undoable and asked themselves “why not?”11. IS MY SOCIAL CIRCLE INFLUENCING MY LIFE POSITIVELY?Like Jim Rohn once said, you are the average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with. The circle of friends you keep around you influences your mindset, your behavior and your habits. Want to be successful? Hang out with successful peopl e. Want to be confident? Hang out with confident people. Want to be happy? Hang out with happy people. There’s even scientific evidence behind this. According to this study published in Psychology Today, people with low self-control can improve their self-control by surrounding themselves with strong willed friends.Asking yourself this question allows you to evaluate the social circle you surround yourself with. Are they people that challenge and encourage you to be a better version of yourself? Are they people that are dragging you down with negativity and mediocrity? Letting go of your friends can be a hard thing to do. However, if you want to achieve your fullest potential, it is important to surround yourself with people who share the same dreams with you, people who challenge you. If you are constantly surrounded by people who have no aspirations, you will eventually become complacent in your life because that is the normal kind of life in your social circle. However, if ever yone in your circle is constantly working to better themselves, you will be challenged to better yourself if you want to remain within the same circle. 12. AM I LIVING A LIFESTYLE THAT PROMOTES PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL WELLBEING?To enjoy life to the fullest, you should live a lifestyle that enhances your health and wellbeing. However, when many of us think about health and wellbeing, we only think about the physical part of it. A healthy lifestyle should focus not only on your physical wellbeing, but also your mental and spiritual wellbeing. According to many ancient cultures, the body, the mind and the soul are interconnected, with each one affecting the others. This means that it is impossible to have overall wellbeing when one of these elements is not healthy.Asking yourself this question allows you to make choices that allow you to live a healthy life and enables to channel your focus to your mental and spiritual wellbeing, two elements of wellness that are often neglected . Good nutrition and exercise will take care of your physical wellbeing. Reading and educating yourself continually will take care of your mental wellbeing, while things like religion and meditation will help you take care of your spiritual wellbeing. The important thing here is that your overall wellbeing depends on the three elements. Don’t focus on one and neglect the others. 13.  AM I GIVING THE PEOPLE I VALUE MOST ENOUGH TIME?Many times, we focus on the challenges of modern life that we forget how important it is to spend some quality time with the people we value most â€" our family and friends. You should never be too busy for people who love and care for you. In the end, they are the only ones who matter. You might get laid off your job, the money and cars might go, but your family and friends will always have your back no matter what happens. In addition to always having a circle of support, family and friends are also good for your happiness. People who spend more qualit y time with people they value tend to have higher levels of happiness. Spending time with friends and family even has a bigger impact on happiness than an increase in income. 14. DO I CARE MORE ABOUT HOW MY LIFE LOOKS OR HOW IT FEELS?Today’s society is fueled by marketing and extreme consumerism. In a world where first impressions matter a lot, people see the car you drive or the clothes you wear and not your character or integrity. Having the right image determines the kind of friends you will get, the relationships will get into and the kind of jobs and business deals you will get. Matters have been made worse by social media, where people are all about showing off how their lives seemingly are. This has led to a situation where most people are more focused on living a life that looks good, even if all this is a façade. Today, keeping up with the Joneses has become a way of life. People are taking loans to buy houses and cars with the aim of looking successful. According to a s urvey by the Country Financial Security Index, more than half of the respondents spend more than their income occasionally, while 21% spend more in a month than they earn in the same month for more than sixth months every year. Most of this expenditure goes towards buying material things with the aim of impressing others. While doing this might boost your image, it will have adverse effects on your life. Spending beyond your means to impress the masses can lead to a life of debt. Apart from setting you up for a life debt, living a life where you care more about how your life looks can lead to lack of joy and contentment. Instead of being appreciative of what you have, you will be more focused on getting more so that you can improve your image. Since you are so focused on getting bigger toys to maintain your image, you end up spending most of your time at work, which in turn also strains your relationships with family. You end up becoming distant to your spouse and miss seeing your ki ds growing up. Is this the kind of life you want? Asking yourself if you care more about how your life looks or how it feels will help remind you that living a fake life to impress others is a walk down a treacherous path. It’s better to be rich and look poor than to look rich and be poor. 15. WHAT WILL BE MY BIGGEST REGRET IF I WERE TO DIE TOMORROW?If you know you are going to die tomorrow, you most probably won’t care about where you lived, how much money you made or how many properties you had. Most likely, you will regret working so hard while neglecting your family. You will regret letting fear hold your life back. You will regret living the life others expected of you instead of charting your own path. You will regret not going after your dreams. Asking yourself this question gives you a sober reminder of what you should be doing with your life today. If you know the things you are going to regret when you are lying on your deathbed, why not do them today to avoid going ou t with regrets when the time comes?

Lets Break the Taboo and Celebrate Coming of Age - Free Essay Example

A celebration dedicated to first menstrual. My first menstrual was just like any other day. Sadly, it is not the case for every girl. Many girls across the horizon still think their monthly cycle is a punishment from God or it is considered a sign of impurity. I mean isnt it quite repulsive that in 2018, many girls are still unaware of our biological factors of a human body. As you continue to read, about 200 million women are on their menstruation. Shark week, On the rag, Code Red, Ladies business, girl flu are just a few phrases to indicate that a girl is on her period. We tend to use these phrases to avoid the subject of menstruation. Without this none of us would exist, yet it remains one of the most sensitive topics around the globe. I think it is about time to get rid of these human-made taboos and appreciate what nature has granted. May 2014, I graduated high school completed my course in CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant). A month later, I decided to visit my family in Bulandshahr, India. My aunt then chose to take me to rural India, to visit her family. I felt quite fortunate because I have been provided with an excellent opportunity to learn from the people residing there. Living the life of spirituality and away from all the chaos seemed quite fascinating to me. Unfortunately, I was profoundly saddened and shocked after witnessing a few parts of society. For instance, women are considered impure while on their monthly cycle. They were provided a completely separate room in the back of the house are forbidden to come anywhere close to the kitchen or temple. Women in their own home are not feeling comfortable due to the monthly separation from family, friends daily duties. Within seconds I realized, how essential it is to educate families about menstruation. Who knew my dreams were about to split apart. Upon returning to the United States, I saw significant financial conflicts in my house, and so I decided to work a full-time job. Hours were unbearable, the body was exhausted, eyes were wet, and hopes began to vanish. Focus began to shift, mind started to wonder, life seemed uncertain, money became priority and dreams became a second choice. Despite, everything I knew, someday Ill make my parents proud. After researching various universities and their pre-pharmacy programs, I aspire to attend Jefferson University. My reason for transferring into Thomas Jefferson University is entirely academic. A university that contains vibrant energy, as well as provide multiple opportunities for research, discoveries, and creativity. I made many great friends here in Millersville and studied with some of the best professors. Now that my family is stabilized, I am looking forward to exposing myself to a new city, out of my comfort zone, starting a new journey filled with various cultures and hoping to transform my dream into reality. By attending Thomas Jefferson University, I hope to enhance deepen my knowledge in the field of Pharmacy, volunteer and join summer internships. Eventually, I would like to seek an opportunity to educate people about menstruation/menstruation hygiene and hope to eliminate the taboo against menstruation. Upon acceptance, I would like to give wings to my dreams. We as a society seem to demotivate the subject of menstruation quite a lot, but I believe a day will arrive where all the misconceptions, misbelieves will fade away and coming of age will be celebrated across the globe.

Martin Luther King s Letter From Birmingham Jail Essay

Martin Luther King Martin Luther King† letter from Birmingham Jail† is about a letter King wrote to his opponents about why he is taking a nonviolent action against the unjust rule that blacks had to follow. Violence, Causes And Effects Of Domestic Violence - 733 Words

Domestic violence is a widespread epidemic. Every 15 seconds a woman is beaten by their husband or partner in the United States alone. Destructive and abusive behaviors in intimate relationships may start as something of not much importance and escalate from there on. An incident of domestic violence is very rarely ever isolated and will more than likely be repeated. These violent incidents tend to happen more frequently and become increasingly more violent over time until they eventually spin out of control unless someone puts a stop to it. According to  ¨Violence Against Women, A Majority Staff Report ¨ , domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 to 44. As Jan Brown, founder of the Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men, said  ¨domestic vi olence is not about size, gender, or strength. Domestic abuse is NEVER the victims fault regardless of their gender. Male victims rarely report their abuse because of fear of not being believed and because of their own embarrasment. Domestic violence changes the atmosphere in family households dramatically. Constant fear and confusion replaces the feelings of love and comfort that are expected to be present in normal family homes. The President Of Bartavia s Fiscal Policy With The...

The President of Bartavia wants to enact expansionary fiscal policy with the intention of manipulating inflation and unemployment. Although Bartavia is nearly employing all of its resources in production and extremely close to full employment level, the President is still concerned about the small percentage that is unemployed. Unemployment is the state of a person without a job or a reliable salary or income. Inflation and unemployment are characteristics that are closely monitored to indicate the economic performance of a country. As the economic advisor to the president, I would strongly advise against implementing this policy. Currently, the economy is not in a recession making the trade-offs associated with economic expansion counter intuitive. In addition, the Phillips Curve demonstrates the inverse relationship between inflation and unemployment, making the need for expansionary action unnecessary right now. Finally, Okun s Law shows how this policy would effect Bartavia s GDP via the sacrifice ratio. These three reasons show that the long-run consequences outweigh the short-run benefits of expansionary fiscal policy. Therefore, I implore the President to avoid implementing the expansionary policy. First of all, expansionary fiscal policy is passed to expand the money supply of an economy to encourage economic prosperity, growth, and combat inflation. Inflation is described as the overall increase of prices in an economy or country. There are several ways an

Places and Manner of Articulation in English Free Essays

| PLACES OF ARTICULATION The active articulator usually moves in order to make the constriction. The passive articulator usually just sits there and gets approached. A sound’s place of articulation is usually named by using the Latin adjective for the active articulator (ending with an â€Å"o†) followed by the Latin adjective for the passive articulator. We will write a custom essay sample on Places and Manner of Articulation in English or any similar topic only for you Order Now For example, a sound where the tongue tip (the â€Å"apex†) approaches or touches the upper teeth is called an â€Å"apico-dental†. Most of the common combinations of active and passive articulator have abbreviated names (usually leaving out the active half). These are the abbreviated names for the places of articulation used in English: Bilabial The articulators are the two lips. (We could say that the lower lip is the active articulator and the upper lip the passive articulator, though the upper lip usually moves too, at least a little. ) English bilabial sounds include [p], [b], and [m]. [pic] Labio-dental The lower lip is the active articulator and the upper teeth are the passive articulator. English labio-dental sounds include [f] and [v]. [pic] Dental Dental sounds involve the upper teeth as the passive articulator. The active articulator may be either the tongue tip or (usually) the tongue blade. Dentals are the initial sounds of words ‘thin’ and ‘that’. [pic] Alveolar Alveolar sounds involve the alveolar ridge as the passive articulator. The active articulator may be either the tongue blade or (usually) the tongue tip. English alveolar sounds include [t], [d], [n], [s], [z], [l]. [pic] Post alveolar Post alveolar sounds involve the area just behind the alveolar ridge as the passive articulator. The active articulator may be either the tongue tip or (usually) the tongue blade. English postalveolars include [[pic]r ]. pic] Linguists have traditionally used very inconsistent terminology in referring to the post alveolar POA. Some of the terms you may encounter for it include: palato-alveolar, alveo-palatal, alveolo-palatal, and even (especially among English-speakers) palatal. Many insist that palato-alveolar and alveo (lo)-palatal are two different things — thoug h they don’t agree which is which. â€Å"Post alveolar†, the official term used by the International Phonetic Association, is unambiguous, not to mention easier to spell. Palato-alveolar These are produced by two simultaneous articulations: ) the blade of tongue articulates against the teeth ridge. b) The front of tongue is raised towards the hard palate. e. g. initial sounds in words ‘ shampoo’, ‘jug’, ‘cheese’ are palato-alveolar sounds. Palatal The active articulator is the tongue body and the passive articulator is the hard palate. The English glide [j] is a palatal. Velar[pic] The active articulator is the tongue body and the passive articulator is the soft palate. English velars include [k], [g] and also ‘ing’ sound in word ‘knowing’. [pic] Glottal This isn’t strictly a place of articulation, but they had to put it in the chart somewhere. Glottal sounds are made in the larynx. For the glottal stop, the vocal cords close momentarily and cut off all airflow through the vocal tract. In [h], the vocal cords are open, but close enough together that air passing between them creates friction noise. [pic] MANNER OF ARTICULATION †¢ Stop, an oral occlusive, where there is occlusion (blocking) of the oral vocal tract, and no nasal air flow, so the air flow stops completely. Examples include English /p t k/ (voiceless) and /b d ? / (voiced). If the consonant is voiced, the voicing is the only sound made during occlusion; if it is voiceless, a stop is completely silent. What we hear as a /p/ or /k/ is the effect that the onset of the occlusion has on the preceding vowel, as well as the release burst and its effect on the following vowel. The shape and position of the tongue (the place of articulation) determine the resonant cavity that gives different stops their characteristic sounds. All languages have stops. †¢ Nasal, a nasal occlusive, where there is occlusion of the oral tract, but air passes through the nose. The shape and position of the tongue determine the resonant cavity that gives different nasals their characteristic sounds. Examples include English /m, n/. Nearly all languages have nasals, the only exceptions being in the area of Puget Sound and a single language on Bougainville Island. †¢ Fricative, sometimes called spirant, where there is continuous frication (turbulent and noisy airflow) at the place of articulation. Examples include English /f, s/ (voiceless), /v, z/ (voiced), etc. Most languages have fricatives, though many have only an /s/. However, the Indigenous Australian languages are almost completely devoid of fricatives of any kind. †¢ Affricate, which begins like a stop, but this releases into a fricative rather than having a separate release of its own. The English letters â€Å"ch† and â€Å"j† represent affricates. Affricates are quite common around the world, though less common than fricatives. †¢ Flap, often called a tap, is a momentary closure of the oral cavity. The â€Å"tt† of â€Å"utter† and the â€Å"dd† of â€Å"udder† are pronounced as a flap in North American and Australian English. Many linguists distinguish taps from flaps, but there is no consensus on what the difference might be. No language relies on such a difference. There are also lateral flaps. †¢ Trill, in which the articulator (usually the tip of the tongue) is held in place, and the airstream causes it to vibrate. The double â€Å"r† of Spanish â€Å"perro† is a trill. Trills and flaps, where there are one or more brief occlusions, constitute a class of consonant called rhotics. †¢ Approximant, where there is very little obstruction. Examples include English /w/ and /r/. In some languages, such as Spanish, there are sounds that seem to fall between fricative and approximant. †¢ One use of the word semivowel, sometimes called a glide, is a type of approximant, pronounced like a vowel but with the tongue closer to the roof of the mouth, so that there is slight turbulence. In English, /w/ is the semivowel equivalent of the vowel /u/, and /j/ (spelled â€Å"y†) is the semivowel equivalent of the vowel /i/ in this usage. Other descriptions use semivowel for vowel-like sounds that are not syllabic, but do not have the increased stricture of approximants. These are found as elements in diphthongs. The word may also be used to cover both concepts. †¢ Lateral approximants, usually shortened to lateral, are a type of approximant pronounced with the side of the tongue. English /l/ is a lateral. Together with the rhotics, which have similar behavior in many languages, these form a class of consonant called liquids. [pic] How to cite Places and Manner of Articulation in English, Papers

In 2015, this organization has taken V3 strategy which indicates to the increase of value, velocity and driving volume with the help of seven different strategic ways such as the increase of the milk sources in New Zealand, increase of the current position of its consumers through expansion, further development of Anlene business, increase of the foodservice potential, cautious investments in the milk pools, acquire prominent position in the maternal and child nutrition market and proper arrangement in the organization for the better implementation of these strategies (Fonterra.com, 2013). Analysis and Explanation of the Competition Level in the Market for Fonterra As per Ilieska (2013), Porters five force is one of the best marketing strategy with which the business organizations can effectively analyze their position in the competitive market. It also helps to identify the potentiality of Fonterra among other daily manufacturers of New Zealand namely United Dairy NZ Ltd, Taranaki Milk Products Ltd, Open Country Dairy Ltd etc. New Entrants From the viewpoint of Iyamabo and Otubanjo (2012), Fonterra is facing a threat about the emergence of new entrants in the competitive dairy market of New Zealand. Plenty of supply sources along with low purchase rate attract various other dairy manufacturers who only tend to indulge in export businesses. On the other hand, global dairy farms like Nestle etc also prefer low cost supplier country like New Zealand from where they can acquire sufficient amount of milk at cheap costs. Suppliers This organization seems to produce around 2.5 million tons dairy products with the help of around 17500 dairy farmers of New Zealand who are also the shareholders of this company (Khan Khalique, 2014). The trustworthy and strong sources of milk seem to be one of the strength of this organization from which almost 94% are exported all around the world to fulfill the huge demand for dairy products. This organization also ensures this huge supply at a lower rate by building a healthy relationship with the farmers (Kosan, 2014). Fonterra also tries to apply technologies at their dairy farms so that they can increase the production with which they can expand their business to their desired countries like China, India etc. In order to meet the high and growing demand of fresh dairy products, at the China branch of Fonterra, a pilot farm seems to be developed. It seems to have around 6200 cows among which almost 3256 are indoor kept with which this branch aims to produce double amount of m ilk than its present production (Fonterra.com, 2013). Buyers Due to the rapid changing food habits of the consumers, Fonterra is facing growing difficulty regarding the maintenance of the prices of its products. The system of demand and supply of dairy products also gets interrupted because of its consumers (Leeflang et al., 2014). In order to fight this obstacle, this organization has developed a new online selling website of its different dairy products like milk, butter, yoghurt etc where it can easily change the prices of its products in accordance with the changing demand and supply system. Substitutes During the present craze of health consciousness, consumers tend to opt for other substitutes for the natural milk products (Iyamabo and Otubanjo, 2012). The rapid growing illness like blood pressure, cholesterol etc, people aim to consumer low fat processed dairy products like goat milk, soya milk, power milk etc which seems to affect the immense demand and popularity of natural milk product (McFarlane, 2013). Due to this reason, the profit level of Fonterra seems to be get affected. Internal Rivalry In the recent competitive market, Fonterra faces threats not only from its competitors at its home country, New Zealand but also from its global competitors namely Kraft, Nestle etc because they are rapidly taking the major positions in the share market. Fonterra seems to be the merger of two giant dairy organizations of New Zealand such as Kiwi Co-operative Dairies and New Zealand Dairy group which strengths its marketing strategies and also increases its profit rate. However, it also faces trouble with the fast changing global marketing strategy with which they try hard to be accustomed (Skokan, Pawliczek Piszczur, 2013). On the contrary, in 2015, Fonterra aims to show its potential in the global market by acquiring two new businesses such as dairy dessert and yoghurt in Australia from one of its major competitor, Nestle as it faces difficulty to maintain its milk supply from the dairy farmers. Conclusion In this way, the strategic marketing management of Fonterra has been analyzed by vividly describing its vision, mission and strategy with which this organization aims to increase their daily production that can also cause a hike in the sales and profit rate of this organization. With the help of the specific diagram involving related data about the vision, mission and strategy of Fonterra helps to have better view on this subject. On the other hand, detailed Porters five force analysis also helps to have a better view about the competitive market position of this organization. Reference List Chowdhury, P. P. (2013). Recently Increased International Attention -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Recently Increased International Attention? Answer: Introduction Recently increased international attention has been attached to non union form of employee representation. This is because the representation gap in various countries is growing as membership of the union is declining. Another reason for the growth of Non-union representation is the rising evidence of advantages of representative employee indulgence for enterprise efficiency and flexibility. However the reality in relation to the Australian attempt towards employee participation has not been discussed much. According to (Patmore, 2013) a Non-union representation can be defined as a kind of representation mechanism which is present along with or in place of trade unions. This form of representation historically gas been most common in Australia. The effectiveness of the non-union form of representation has not been tested much in relation to its composition, independence form things such as managerial influence, representation made by such bodies as well as their accountability (Estre icher, 2013) The purpose of this paper is to analyze to what degree the non-union forms of employee representation and voice would ease the issues which have risen in the seven eleven case. The analysis would be supported with respect to evidence for non-union forms of employee representation. The purpose of the paper is also to provide recommendation in relation to the changes required in the bargaining structure operating in the retail industry in order to avoid and address the issue which arose in the 7 eleven case appropriately. The recommendation would be provided business on the effectiveness of the Australian bargaining structure as well as appropriate policy examples from other countries. Eleven Case As discussed in the Assessment 7 Eleven is a well known franchisee working in Australia which have which have indulged in unethical and illegal activities in relation to how they treat and deal with the employees. The news about the incident spread very fast and thus it led to the lunching of an enquiry by the Fair work Ombudsman in the year 2014. The focus of such enquiry was of whether the organization was appropriately abiding by the employment policy, procedures and legislations or not. It was found by the inquiry that the franchisee was providing poor working condition to the employees who were mostly oversee workers such as less leaves and increased working hours. The inquiry also found that the wages which had been provided by the franchisee to the employees were significantly less than the minimum wages required to pat to a person working in Australia. Through implementing these illegal and unethical practices the organization was striving to make increased profit at the cost of its employees. Non-Union Employee Representation According to (Sheldon, Nacamulli, Paoletti, Morgan, 2016) for many years collective bargaining and unions have been used to manifest employee representation and voice in the employment relationship in Australia. However, such a situation no longer exists. In the present employment worlds most of the employees are not a member of a union but are represented and their voice is exercised through various other arrangements and mechanisms. These arrangements can take the form of a work council, supervisory boards representation and representation made by employees. There are various organizations such as in our case the 7 eleven franchisee who does not have a proper union representation. In such organization the non-union forms of employee representation can be very helpful for the employees to raise their voice and concerns to the heard by those who are responsible. According to (Kersley, et al., 2013) organizations which have a non-unionized work place are provided with considerable fr eedom in relation to the process of dismissal. Unionized workplace have to undertake a significant time consuming process with respect to dismissal. In use of non-union forms of employee representation not only takes away the time and complexity required in the process of dismissal but also ensures that the representatives of the employees raise a significant voice in relation to an act of the employer which they do not consider as fair. They have the power to escalate the issue to the owners and managers and if not satisfied they can further raise the issue with the authority. The functioning of the non-union forms of employee representation is based in the English proverb which suggests that united we stand and divided we fall. According to (Van Wanrooy, et al., 2013) who had surveyed more than 40 case studies in relation to Non union form of representation provide that although this form of representation make the functions of the HR managers difficult in organization, but for organizations like the 7 eleven where there is no management of employees the form of representation can be significantly useful towards assuring the actions of the employers are kept under a check. A disadvantage of non union employee representation which have been provided by (Kaufman Taras, 2016) is that although the form of representation allows for the input of employees in the decision making process the final decision making power still vests in the management. This is one of the most significant disadvantage which could been seen in the application of the non-union forms of employee representation in the 7 eleven case. When the supreme power is in the hands of the management it would not be possible for employees to raise th eir voice and even if they do the voice is not going to be heard. This disadvantage can only be mitigated by proving increased powers to the employees in relation to bargaining and raising their voice. The problem can also be solved by the non-union forms of employee representation by extending their reach to beyond the managers and owners of the organization to the employment authorities of the country (Fossum, 2014) Through the above discussed characteristics of the non-union forms of employee representation it can be suggested that it would be only able to solve the issue which arose in the 7 Eleven case if the reach of the representatives of the employees is extended beyond the owners to the legal authorities like the Fair work ombudsman. Where the unities through traditional unions are absent it is not easy for the employees to raise their voice against the discretion of the employer. However the problem can be solved if the non-union forms of employee representation raise their voice in unity against any unfair practices which is conducted by the employer in relation to the work place (Sheldon, Nacamulli, Paoletti, Morgan, 2016) Collective Bargaining (Question 2) Collective bargaining is the process through which unions negotiate in relation to their rights in the work place such as leaves, working conditions and wages. Since 2007 there have been significant reforms in the industrial relation policies in Australia. There was an expectation that the fair work Act would introduce traditional structure of collective bargaining in Australia. However a much more strange process of collective bargaining had been introduced by the Fair Work Act. during the initial stages of the Act there had been a fair number of collective bargaining arrangements lodged in Australia, however the number started to fall considerably from 2012 till the present. There was a constant debate over the fact that too much power has been provided to the unions which are misusing it to cause trouble and hardship to the employers. However there have been no concrete evidence provided in relation to such debate. According to (Bailey, Price, Pyman, Parker, 2015) the density of the unions are declining considerably. The same situation is in relation to the non union representation but such representation showed a rise from 2014. However as stated by (Berg, Kossek, Baird, Block, 2013) these arrangements are only documented and not bargained for in the absence of a proper union and are merely forwarded for the process of Audit. Recommendations The first and foremost recommendation which would be provided by this paper in relation to the collective bargaining structure in Australia that it is required by the government to identify and recognize the fact that it is not easy to achieve genuine co-operation in the workplaces of Australia and the policies such as bargaining in good faith may be useful buy are not sufficient for the present condition (Ribeiro, 2016). Increased compliance and strict implementation of laws are required to ensure a proper bargaining structure is created. The relationship which exists between representatives of the employers and the trade unions is often perceived as fair. However the negotiations which take place are difficult and it is generally not easy to conclude the agreements which have been commonly accepted. The bargaining process is often slowed down due to the process of long lasting rounds of negotiations. The major reason for such problem is that there is a lack of authority between the negotiators to come to a final discussion. Thus such representatives have to be provided increased authority as it is done in the United Kingdom (Pekarek Gahan, 2016).Collective bargaining in relation to the employer are only limited to only the signatories. However the situation needs to be changed and all employers should be brought into the coverage of collective bargaining. The most problematic negotiations are those which are relate to the increase in wages and problems relating to payment. A third party which is also known as the social partner in Slovakia is a good way of making the parties to the process if collective bargaining comes to a conclusion (Patmore, 2013).Such a third party may also act as a witness and evidence in relation to the process of bargaining and the decision which had been reached. The introduction of a mandatory third party in the collective bargaining process in Australia can also enhance the quality of the process in the country Conclusion Through the above discussion it can be concluded that the non-union form of employee representation come with both advantages and disadvantages. However the popularities of such representations in Australia have significantly increased during the last few years. Evidence suggest that although the non union forms do not have much authority in relation to the workplace they can be useful for providing support to the employees in work places like the 7 eleven franchisee. Collective bargaining is the best process available to the employees in relation to their rights in the work place. The process can however be enhanced in Australia by following the above discussed recommendations. References Bailey, J., Price, R., Pyman, A., Parker, J. (2015). The Plot of Puddinhead Wilson essays

The Plot of Puddinhead Wilson essays In the novel Puddnhead Wilson and Those Extraordinary Twins, Mark Twain wrote a good plot with some confusing parts. The novel is good and interesting and it is always interesting to read books by him because of his history here at Elmira College. I liked the plot and how things turned out and everything that led up to the climax, but I found at points that it was confusing. The book kept my interest and made me want to keep reading. The movie kept my attention because I am better with visual things rather than written. Twain is an excellent writer and this is the second book of his I have read and I like them both very much. The plot is good and has a lot to it. The plot has everything a good novel has, such as suspense, humor and villainy. The Character Valet de Chambre Tom brought a lot to the plot and made it excellent. From the beginning of the book, Valet de Chambre Tom played a major role after being switched by his mother Roxy who was a slave. It is an odd situation that I dont think has occurred much. That is what made the plot good. It makes it good because I dont want to read a book with a plot of something I have heard about or have experienced first hand. It doesnt make me want to read it because I know all about it. Parts of the book were confusing to me. It didnt hurt the plot too much but it made me not want to read the book anymore because I didnt understand where the plot was going. The ending cleared everything up. I cant exactly pick a specific thing but it seems just to be around the part where Valet de Chambre Tom sells his mom down river. Ole Marse Driscoll ll sell you down de river befo you is two days older den what you is now. (41) It was confusing because there was a lot was going on and I had to go back and re read it. Basically the story line was choppy in ...

Ringers Solution Recipe

Ringers Solution Recipe Ringers solution is a special salt solution made up to be isotonic to physiological pH. It is named for Sydney Ringer, who determined that the liquid around a frogs heart must contain a set proportion of salts if the heart is to remain to beat (1882 -1885). There are different recipes for Ringers solution, depending on its intended purpose and the organism. Ringers solution is an aqueous solution of sodium, potassium and calcium salts. Lactated Ringers solution (LR, LRS or RL) is a special Ringers solution that contains lactate and is isotonic to human blood. Here are some recipes for Ringers solution. Ringers Solution pH 7.3-7.4 7.2 g sodium chloride - NaCl0.37 g potassium chloride - KCl0.17 g calcium chloride - CaCl2 Dissolve the reagents into the reagent-grade water.Add water to bring the final volume to 1 L.Adjust the pH to 7.3-7.4.Filter the solution through a 0.22-ÃŽ ¼m filter.Autoclave Ringers solution prior to use. Emergency Veterinary Ringers Solution This solution is intended for rehydration of small mammals, to be administered orally or subcutaneously via a syringe. This particular recipe is one that can be prepared using common chemicals and household equipment. Reagent-grade chemicals and an autoclave would be preferable if you have access to those, but this gives you an idea of an alternate method of preparing a sterile solution: 9.0 g sodium chloride - NaCl (154.00 mM): non-iodized table salt0.4 g potassium chloride - KCl (5.64 mM): Morton or NOW salt substitute0.2 - 0.3 g calcium chloride - CaCl2 (2.16 mM): calcium chloride powder1.3 g dextrose (11.10 mM): granular dextrose0.2 g sodium bicarbonate - NaHCO3 (2.38 mM): baking soda  (*add last) Mix together the sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride and dextrose solutions or salts. If salts were used, dissolve them in about 800 ml of distilled or reverse osmosis water (not tap water or spring water or water to which minerals have been added).Mix in the baking soda. The baking soda is added last so that the calcium chloride will dissolve/not precipitate out of solution.Dilute the solution to make 1 L of Ringers solution.Seal the solution in small canning jars and cook it at least 20 minutes in a pressurized steam canner. The sterile solution is good for 2-3 years unopened or up to 1 week refrigerated, once opened. Suppose you were selected for special position Essay

Suppose you were selected for special position - Essay Example This take however may be challenged, especially when a not sought for assignment is offered, and there are no chances of refusal. If I get myself in such a fix, then it would be required that I apply my course and every single thing I have learnt in the process in dealing with the issue at hand. For me, my course and especially physics would play a central role. Ethics Moral responsibility plays a central role in any given assignment. Regardless of the specific field of training, this is a fundamental component of one self, not only in the field of employment, but also in any given context of human interactions. The various education fields have different ethics applicable to them (Perl 213). This encompasses physics among all other identifiable fields of study. In this regard, taking into account the codes of ethics applicable to me, given the course I have taken, I am morally responsible to take on assignments offered to me. This does not only imply personal benefit, but also the w elfare of the entire society; the entire company included. Training The education system in place takes care of individual interests, not only in academic terms, but also in every identifiable aspect of life. Training that makes me handle not sought for assignments encompass class work, related practical work as well as outside-class exposure. This is an input factor that has been realized along the line of study, such that it becomes integral to whatever goals and objectives pursued during and after successful completion of studies. Personal diversity and dynamism Personal growth and development is neither rigid nor fixed to specific grounds of capability. Physics is a unique subject that captures changes in a very specific way (Perl 288). Most of the worldwide development, innovativeness and inventions borrow heavily from physics and related subjects. The diversity and dynamism characteristic of this subject and the course in general should be manifested through the learners. Succ essful completion of this course implied that all requirements prior to this course have been met. In this regard, applying the concepts, theories and models presented in the course should not amount to any difficulty. The important thing to note is that the specific theories and concepts presented in the course are not likely to be the same as those that will be encountered in the actual line of work. Experiencing a different scenario from that I am already used to is a challenge. However, I take challenge as a factor of determination, where personal diversity and dynamism is based upon. This means that even if I land on a not sought for assignment, there are no regrets nor are there doubts that I can actually handle it. Being open and broad minded is the crucial factor that determines personal diversity and change over time. Fixing my career to the specifics of the course does not imply learning for me. This course has taught me that knowledge is a procedural attainment through wh ich a known phenomenon leads to an unknown, and that unknown, another phenomenon of knowing is created. In this regard, the new technology meant to produce electricity may not be known to any employees of the company, but it is known to some other party not present in the company. This brings in the fundamental point to consider. That is, there exists information about this technology and how it works to achieve the desired purpose. As a Lead
